Don't die on the beach

Not only must we do the right thing, but we must do it consistently, with perseverance, right up to the end. Brazilians use the phrase, "to die on the beach," meaning to have done the hardest part only to give out near the end. It's a sad phrase, and it's sad to see someone who has given up at the eleventh hour, who has gotten exasperated in sight of the finish line, who instead of ignoring the pain of the long course, collapses when the goal was within reach. #perseverance

When confronted with the truth

Being set free by the truth, as Jesus promised in John 8:32, depends on our reaction to it. When confronted by the truth, we must embrace it, no matter how bitter it may appear. The bitter will become sweet. Those who deny it or explain it away remain in their chains and close themselves off to liberty. #truth

Brazilian mag at printer

Today I emailed our Brazilian magazine, called Edification, by translation, to the printer, both the innards and covers. I'm supposed to have it back before Christmas. This is January 2012's issue, resuming after two years of hibernation. We're basically starting over: subscriptions, columnists, sponsors, rebuilding from the ground up. A painful but necessary process. Take a look at the cover on http://edificacao.org/.
