The Jewish temple served as a "sketch and a shadow of the heavenly sanctuary" because Moses was careful to build it according to the design or model God gave him. Hb 8.5 NET

The word "design" refers to "an archetype serving as a model, type, pattern, model” (BGAD). God has always been concerned that his pattern be followed. If he was so concerned that Moses build according to the design he gave, how much more does he desire, yea, demand, that we follow the pattern set forth in the New Testament, to order our practice, worship, and work as Christians and congregations of his people? (compare Hebrews 2.2).

"... I am writing these instructions to you in case I am delayed, to let you know how people ought to conduct themselves in the household of God, because it is the church of the living God, the support and bulwark of the truth" (1Tm 3:14b-15).
