Christian attitudes

Studying Christian attitudes both on Wed. nights at our house, in what I call our "Bible readings," and on Sunday afternoons, in our Taubaté Bible studies.

Tonight, Acts 4 on courage. The trait shown and prayed for. We hit verse 12 hard, within its context, as a message to the Jewish rulers. And how that hits us hard today as well, in a world where everything is relative. Which reminds me of some news I heard yesterday or today.

A Methodist church in the US is revising its hymnal and decided to remove a hymn that affirmed that salvation is found exclusively in Christ. Something to that end. I can't find the story just now. (If you find it, please post a link in the comments.) But — this is sad to say — it's not so surprising to read about this day and age.

Where's the courage to buck the trends of the day, to refuse to give in to the pressures of the age?

Last Sunday we read Paul's discourse to the Ephesian elders as an example of the Christian attitude of dedication. Not a bad one, eh?

American visitors coming Sunday, staying through Saturday, we meet with a number of Brazilian brethren throughout the week. Then off to the US Aug. 14. Much happening in short period of time. Good.

My last save of the EDIFICATION magazine file before sending to the printer, and the images disappear. That was today. I have a previous save in PDF, but some text corrections will be lost. But I can't afford the time to replace the images, since a number of them are special effects, with images as background for text. Grrrr.

Planning for next issue is well along, I'm excited about it. People from all over Brazil, Paraguay, US, to contribute.

Granddaughter #1 was three years old yesterday. Unbelievable.

Our sentiments to DIL Valerie and family on the loss of her great-grandfather on her mother's side, in Huntsville AL. Funeral was yesterday.

My aunt is home from the hospital, was treated for blood clots and pneumonia. My thanks to friends who prayer for her.

My tests turned out normal, but the cardio wants to find something wrong. Suspects I might be pre-hypertension. I wonder if she's not working on getting a regular paying client.

Posthaven, our host, moving along, now with FB Likes and Tweets at end of posts. Hint hint.
